Sobia Shaikh sparkles some light on her brief business ISLY and life after closing it.

It’s a true story, it has been acknowledged that Sobia Shaikh is one of the chicest women in San Francisco. From a high-society gala to dinner with friends at Kokkari, the designer, society swan and Instagram influencer (@sobiashaikh) can always be counted upon to arrive in style, whether she’s wearing a one-of-a-kind Oscar De La Renta gown or going more casual — yet still interesting — in a letterman jacket, black jeans and white shirt with a black tie. And she might be the only fashionista you’ll see who can pair tomato-red Isabel Marant track pants with pink Gucci loafers and still make it look like a statement.

Shaikh has invented the perfect word to convey her unique personal style: Cledgy, or “classic-edgy,” explains Shaikh, who loves to dress up for herself and also for her fashion-loving girlfriends. Her audience is particularly female-dominated and most of her Instagram followers are women. She says, “I am so shocked at how many people write to me through DM [direct message] and they ask me for my advice, in terms of travel, in terms of fashion. I try and respond to each one because if they’re looking to me for inspiration. I feel great to have such a community where people can give and take knowledge and love. I’m happy to dispense any advice I can.” Check out Shaikh’s lifestyle blog at for content as cool as she is. Her blog started out as a mere tool for living life but then it has turned into something so beautiful and huge than she had ever thought it would be. The magnitude of attention is sometimes overwhelming.

Her last venture of designer handmade bags closed up only after a few months into the business. She is no stranger to struggles and confusion. When she first arrived in San Francisco, she did not have a particular plan to follow and navigate through life. She is a former advertising agent. Life came to her in full circles as she is doing what she loved all along with her life, Fashion. Growing up, her mother served as a great example of what fashion might be calculated as. Sobia remembers seeing her mother in awe, getting ready for home parties back in her hometown in Karachi, Pakistan. She sure has come a long way from being that awed little girl who starts struck with her mother’s elegance.
